Josh

My name is Josh short for Joshua I am 15 years of age and I was born and raised in the United Kingdom.  There is only one thing that make’s me relax and lets me have self control and that is free running I am really good at it and I wish to be a pro when I am older.

Free running is not just a sport to me it’s a dangerous game, the street and roofs of this city are my playground.

Where I got the inspiration to do free running: well it all started when I was 13 years of age and I was watching the television and all of a sudden I saw lots of people running about and jumping off and onto objects such as buildings and walls.

While I was watching it I had a vision in my head of me doing free running and lots of people cheering me on so I thought to my self I can do that and I can become as good as them on the T..V So I got up went outside and started to climb up walls and buildings.  After 1 year I became so good that I was able to vault and climb very fast over objects.  And still from this day I still train and each day I get better and better.

I train by myself because I get to have more me time and I can concentrate more. When I get to the top of a tall building I sit and observe the area so I no what path to take along the rooftops. When I’m running on the roofs I love the fresh breeze that I get which helps me to breath more and concentrate more as it cools me down.

When I tell people I do free running they always ask me if I get hurt sometimes and I always say no, you no why? Because when I jump from one building to another it does not bother me. Most people think they can jump far distances and try but fail and either hurt themselves or kill themselves. How I no when a building is to far for me to jump onto I no because I listen to my brain and if I get one funny felling in my mind I don’t do it but if I don’t get a feeling then I take one deep breath and boom off I go again.

Self-control is important when you do free running because you have to keep the power in your head the power to achieve jumps and to take in new moves. You also need to have fear because the fear enables you to keep going and going until you will have the power to blank out your fear. The thing that is funny for me is that I’m scared of heights but I still do free running I just blank the fear of heights out and if I can do that I can do anything if I put my mind to it.

To get to the stage were you can block out your fears or blank out certain things it requires a lot of practise how I do it is I focus on the object blank out any noises and movement and its like the whole world stops for me its really cool one handy tip FOCUS! FOCUS!
