Leonardo da Vinci

Leonardo was born the illegitimate son of a peasant mother and is likely to have received little formal education. At 14 he was apprenticed to one of the most successful artists of his day. While he is widely considered one of the greatest painters of his time, his interests were broad. He is respected as an accomplished scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, painter, sculptor, architect, botanist, musician and writer.
